On Tuesday, October 21st Wolfgang Streeck held a virtual discussion on globalization, populism, and the second Trump Administration, hosted by Dr. Zachariah Wheeler. Professor Streeck is the Emeritus Director of the Max Planck Institute in Cologne. His newest bookTaking Back Control? States and State Systems After Globalism was included on the lists for The Chronicle’s “Best Scholarly Book” and the Financial Times’ “Best Economics Book” for 2024. He’s been described as “The most interesting person around today on the subject of the relationship between democracy and capitalism” by Christopher Bickerton at the University of Cambridge, and as the “Karl Marx of our time” by Christopher Caldwell at the NYT.
